An Independent and Thoughtful Perspective
Since 2010, I have explored a range of nature-based healing approaches, including healing and shamanic practice, somatics, trauma-informed perspectives, ancestral dowsing, and experiential research. This work informed the development of Sin-eater and the Sin-eater Companion Guide.
One of the aspects of this journey I have enjoyed most has been travel as a form of exploration and research. I value opportunities to meet people whose perspectives and practices differ from my own, as well as others working at the edges of conventional understanding. I am also drawn to places that carry personal or collective significance, including landscapes and sites identified through dowsing as meaningful for individuals and communities. These experiences have deepened my appreciation of the many ways people make sense of healing, connection, and belonging.
Although now retired from full-time professional work, I continue to enjoy contributing to selected projects where I can offer an independent perspective, specialist knowledge, and reflective input.
A Breadth of Professional Experience
My background spans more than 35 years across vocational rehabilitation, insurance, education, and social care. During that time, I managed long-term rehabilitation contracts with insurers including Unum and Zurich Insurance Group, taught at the Open University and City, University of London, and contributed to undergraduate and postgraduate programme design through the University of Derby Corporate.
I also established and led an independent vocational rehabilitation business supporting insurers, employers, and individuals, and coordinated Transfer of Innovation projects involving partners across 14 European countries.
Experience in Governance, Quality and Development
Alongside my professional work, I hold postgraduate qualifications in Health Promotion and Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, together with a Director’s qualification from the Institute of Directors.
These experiences provide a solid foundation for contributing to governance reviews, programme development, quality assurance activities, and other discrete pieces of strategic or developmental work.
A Trauma-Informed and Reflective Approach
My work is informed by a longstanding interest in trauma, nervous system regulation, reflective practice, and integrative approaches to wellbeing. I am particularly interested in how nature-based and somatic perspectives can complement existing practices in ways that are ethical, sustainable, and supportive of both participants and practitioners.
Flexible Support for Discrete Projects
I work best in a collaborative capacity, offering a fresh perspective, thoughtful challenge, and practical insights when needed. Rather than taking on extensive ongoing commitments, I am available for short-term and part-time project work, advisory input, peer review, programme development, and other discrete assignments where my experience may be of value.
My aim is not to direct or lead organisations, but to contribute constructively where experience, curiosity, and an independent viewpoint can help support learning, development, and positive outcomes.
